Loves Flower

by PETER EDWARDS   Oct 31, 2015

Love begins like pretty flower, once seed is set, it quietly grows
In the corner of your Heart, how it starts? God only knows
Like the chorus that dawn brings, 'fore morning breaks and starts the day
A thousand voices in your mind tell you you'll always feel 'that way'
Like a breeze that ripples through. a field of poppies near quiet lane
You stand together, hand in hand, whilst Love's sweet scent drives you insane
Sometimes though, Loves flower will die, with petals falling in the rain
The raindrops come and knock them down, to put them back you try in vain
Like morning mist that comes and goes, your Love just wasn't meant to be
Like falling snow, Love melts away, and Love is gone, for eternity..

I love this - a poem of two halves, you might say. I love the raindrops metaphor in the second part of this poem too, Peter.
Excellent piece, with - as ever - a lovely flow.

    Hi Peter,

I dont see this format on here much if at all. It is like two tetrametre lines making one line. I like the quikiness of this.

Loves story... a flower metaphor. Love is beautiful like flower. A seed is the energy source, a template so to speak. But who created that... God?

Love is the greatest...The dizzy headiness of love at its lusty peak, like opium from that poppy field.

Love no more...the storm rolls in and rips the petals of love away. The tear tinged rain pours while on hands and knees petals drift out of flailing reach. The rain turns to icy and love knows no more.

    Excellent work Peter.

    Take care

You never know with love, Peter. Some last forever, some die a premature death.
