Fly On.

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 25, 2016

I've always craved
undaunted wings,
yearning to let
the winds of life
sway me instead
of banishing them
from my skin.

I've always thought
that this would
make me brave.
That flying away
from the hurts of
the soil I lived on
would fix me;
but what if instead
I fly toward
a bold dream -
hope unfiltered,
unashamed.

Running away
and denying my
footprints will only
leave me like a
bitter herb.

I am flying forward,
to places and people
that God only knows.

I am flying with
bravery, never alone,
writing my new song...
trusting the one who
breathed on me,
who gave me
confidence when I only
saw the ground.

    Wow, inspiring words Guinea Pig!

I think this is such a good message of hope, that faith can carry you, and inspire you to be strong when you don't believe you can be.

I like how you show you used to believe one thing, that going in one direction was the only way you could possibly go, but then when it fails to succeed, this is where you are at, and you get an idea that perhaps there is another way, and this way will be the road that saves you.

    Running away
    and denying my
    footprints will only
    leave me like a
    bitter herb.

    - very unique term used here, and it worked perfectly!
I love the tone of realisation here, and how you know this is not an option.

    Uplifting piece, thanks!

What a beautifully penned piece of work and one full of a brave sort of hope! I love the bitter herb simile, by the way!
