    This is indeed a deep poem and one I think can help your friend understand, lol - I often write stuff I haven't got the foggiest about...

    I see this as a promise that a heart that gets hurt gets hard, thus, it becomes stronger and impervious to any future misery. Almost an evolution of strength that would end in it 'piercing through the naïve hearts" - perhaps the ones that have not yet been trodden on.
    Once hurt and rebuilt into something stronger, it has come back from the dead and so will live on forever - always impervious to any future hurt.
    What I find sad is that the author states that "that day is yet to come, but sure it will" - an assuredness that (her?) heart will be broken one day and will have to come back stronger but darker - lacking any future expectations of a happy love.

    That's how I see it anyway - hope this helps.
