PICKING UP THE PIECES

by Maricris   May 12, 2016

The greatest love story ever told
it's written in the moonlight
questions in my head
could not speak as loud as my heart
clicking through the photographs
of pinches and pillow fights
how adorable when you laugh.

Shaking through the wreckage
for signs of you, A tell-tale sign
I'll meet you on the other side
I'll meet you in the morning
We're lovers at a Great Divide.

How you remind me of you
I should keep breathing
don't leave me anymore
say you love me
come back and haunt me.

it's really good to hear
your voice saying my name
summers never looked the same
reflecting how things could have been,
without you has never been the same again
but the memories remain
it was worth it in the end.

    Maricris,

As sad as this poem is and despite the lump it left in my throat, it has its own special beauty and is written with heart breaking honesty.

Take care and all the best,

    Ben
