All that glitters ...

by Kitty Cat Lady   Nov 21, 2017

You glowered like a beacon
A search light seeking me
Honing in on my weakness
Bringing me to my knees

Lighting me from deep inside
You dazzled so very bright
Kaleidoscopic colours
Burst right through the night

Ulterior motives and shallow needs
Didn't dull your sparkly guise
Daylight robbery of precious jewels
Re-gifted as outright lies

Far too late I realised
You'd already taken hold
A harsh lesson to understand
All that glitters is not gold.

There's not much I can say as everyone has already said it, aside from this poem is excellent and true. Keep writing, Cat Ma'am.

So very true Miss Kitty! Rub off that "gold" and all you find under it is green tarnish. Nicely put.
