What is Heartbreak?

by Mittenz   May 22, 2018

What is heartbreak?
People try to romanticize
They want to justify
Walking around crying
All day and all night
Like it’s a damn prize
To get sympathetic eyes.

No, heartbreak is
When your insides bleed
Your lungs seize
You feel yourself freeze
You’re down on your knees
Begging, “Help me please,
I can’t breathe!”

Heartbreak is
When you think you’re fine
It’s been enough time
That you’ve won the hard fight
It rears up to bite
It twists like a knife
Ripping at your insides.

Heartbreak hurts
It leaves you drained
Tears dripping like rain
And it’s all in vain
You gotta push forward again
Trying to ignore the stains
Left by all the pain.

When you can’t find air
You’re tearing at your hair
Screaming life ain’t fair
Trying to shake the despair

You’ve got a mask in place
Trying to hide your face
Needing to find a space

You know you can’t win
But you do it again.

That is heartbreak.

Wow wow wow... OK so firstly welcome to the site and secondly what a wonderfully rhymed piece which is really relatable and I assume with how you've explained heartbreak you've experienced it and possibly more than once.... This is really well rhymed and flows perfectly, I personally also read it abit like a heartbeat speeding up for some reason maybe I just need sleep haha

    Take care and again welcome
