It Didn't Hurt Much

by Kitty Cat Lady   May 28, 2018

I inhaled sharply
Flinched internally
Steeled myself for the blow
A planned removal of thorns

But it didn't hurt much at all

I wanted to feel something
A pain to mark a moment
Grief to bookmark this chapter
A justifying sense of loss perhaps

But it didn't hurt much at all

Will it come back for me later?
Or am I finally all cried out
Immune at last to you
Fully vaccinated

Because it didn't hurt much at all.

This spoke to me! And I think it applies to so many situations in life that we find ourselves afraid to let go of.

The line 'it didn't hurt much at all' to me seems as though it hurt alot not sure how to describe it but I'm sure you know what I mean

Lol. It used to hurt a lot and I braced myself for the final bit hurting a lot too, but it didn't, it only hurt a little bit. See? :-) x

Wow. This is a wonderful piece. Although not your usual rhyming style it is absolutely perfect. It portrays the internal dilemma on how you expect to feel and how you actually feel in such a situation and it is spot on. Well done on a great write.

    Miss Kitty :)

this is great, and its funny some times that we wait for that moment (whatever it may be) and it doesn't always happen so to speak! Glad to see this on the board
    Much love

Thanks Michael ... yeah it was weird ... like I didn't know what to do with the prepared emotion that wasn't used - it's still floating around I think! lol :-) x
