Stay

by Mortal Utopia   Mar 31, 2019

all I have left

in place
of hands to embrace

are wings emptied and frayed
to fly away.

but I still want to stay

behind.

beside you.

This made my heart smile and I love the tranquilty of this piece yet the reassurance that though you have frayed wings, you will stay anyway. Remain either with someone you love or remain at home, or the place you belong. There's almost a humble tone I noted, with saying "all you have left" but it is enough for you to simply stay with this presence that will be all you need.

Simple but eloquent poem and I love the strength of those two bonding words "beside you". I also think the spacing worked well for this with that extra line in between.
