I picked up the blade
like it would help me sow
my seeds, my potential

just as I picked up
sorrow on the side of the road,
gave birth to shame
and somehow never knew
I could distance myself
from the scars

that mind and soul
could be nourished
without self-inflicted harm.

In my humble opinion, the first stanza is very poetical, the second almost uphold the greatness of the first one. The third turn to self-help edifying. Being a good poet and a great person simultaneously, sometimes give writers confusions like this, because both of them are directly connected to our tender feelings.

    Great work after all.
