Broken Heart Highway

by livefreebright   Dec 28, 2004

I walk along the highway
So many people passing by
Yet none of them seem to care
Or ask me why I cry

They see the smile on my face
But look deeper in my eye
To the heart that's barely beating
And only wants to die

Unaware of everything
The cold air on my neck
Freezing my spine to the brain
My body's a car wreck

On the side of the road
Lie the pieces of my dream
As I walk away
Blood gushing at the seem

Leaving a track behind
And still know one sees
The shattered life before them
That never again shall be

A projector on the side
Replaying the memories
And still no one stops to watch
The little child that was me

Those times shall be forgotten
All happiness erased
The smiles turned to frowns
On that little girls sweet face

Images turn dark
And the rain begins to fall
As i walk the broken highway
Without anyone at all

The only one that mattered
I lost long ago
Throught I could pick up and go on
If only he could know

He chose a different road
And now I'll never see
Just how happy I could be
If he only stayed with me

Ripped the heart from my chest
Can't deal with the pain
Now I walk along lifeless
Through the pouding rain

Still no one sees the sorrow
Or offers any solace
So I continue on the road
To remain forever hopeless

Shall me meet again
I may never know
Maybe our paths will meet somewhere
Woun't get my hopes up though

Trudging along in the dirt
Lost it all when I fell
Can't recall the joy in life
This broken heart highway of hell
