Persistence

Like a road to heaven
Is persistence
We walk down it
Gales blow
Rain falls
The sun is at its worst
We meet cynics
Who sneer
Where do you think
You are going?
Clowns
Who jeer
You think
You can make it?
But we go on
That same road
Persistent upon our course
One destination still
A peaceful end.
