The Path of Light

I'm looking down my path of life
Two paths leading different ways
Which will let me live
And which will lead me astray?

One twists a bind into the dark
While one leads into light
One full of self-pity and pain
The other pure and right

The devil tugs at my arm
Pulls me toward the path so sad
I want to just end it all
This life tends to make me mad

I doubt they'll miss me
If I fall into the dark
I began to trudge down that path
When from the other came a spark

God's hand comes from the light
And shoos the devil away
I feel the love wash over me
It makes me want to stay

I see my family and friends
Far down this path of love
They don't want me to leave
To the heavens far above

I start to walk down that path
But something holds me back
Doubt, the past, wounds inside
Strength that I lack

I look down the path of life
And the path where life could end
I think I'll journey farther along
My journey shall now begin.
