Heartbreak

by Naaria   Jul 13, 2005

You said I'd never have to be alone,
To just call your name and you'd come home.
But all I have is nothing left,
I gave it all to you, my best.
You love her now, you're satisfied,
Many words, to myself, I lied.
I raise my hands, and for once I surrender.
You'll be the one that I remember.

You said, "Come to me when you're scared,
I promise you, I'll always be there."
But all I have is nothing left,
I gave it all to you, my best.
You tell her things you said to me,
"The most important, to me, you'll be"
Nothing's changed except one thing.
The most important: Everything.

"I'll be here and leave you never,
I'll love you now and then forever."
All you've got is everything you've wanted.
The memories of you, my heart, will haunt it.
You love her now, that I can see,
And I've got someone dear to me.
So I leave you now with one regret:
"You'll be the one I won't forget."

Excellent poem, very well written and fluent. I'm sure many people can relate to this. I am not typically one for "love poems", but I have to say, I enjoyed this. Take care, I look forward to reading more.
