Only One Heart is Home

by N J Thornton   Oct 6, 2005

Tears bead softly through torn eyelashes
Fond memories effervesce in time
Skin tastes salty to a final kiss
And fade does the toast of red, red wine

Though a silent heartbeat needs soothing
Coal fires cannot warm a broken soul
Entirety has a fond meaning
When cupid hit, it branded a hole

No matter how tender a sunset
Sunrise of the mind is at distance
Self-folded arms shield the space within
To remove distress from existence

Remembering being half of a whole
And the security that was known
Now looking to the looming future
It seems that only one heart is home

Touched my heart and pulled at some chords that I'd like to bury. Great job.
