Mistaken Illusion

by bex   Oct 20, 2005

As night falls and hides the freckles on your skin
I lay beside you, concealed in my bliss
Each single breath && movement, so subtle yet enticing
Without you here this night could be consumed by the mist
Echoed in your eyes && portrayed through your hips
This endless goodbye hangs in the air while I taste the lust laced in your kiss

While the moonlight shines && exposes all my fears
In you I confide
The blood turns to dust && the tears lack all sense
Though my face shows no tremor my mind won't forget
Like that incinerated rumours those images lay in embers
Reconciled they animate && lay out the cards of past regret

Lain upon my doorstep, shivering yet sweet
The stalker of my mind knows each time we will unite
To perform the blessed deed, even he retreats from my demons
Could it be poison or my tactless greed that keeps him with me constant, each time I bleed?
Lethal like the drug but hypnotic in his speech
My cravings arrive as the surge in my brain completes

Out of sight && escaped from my mind
As the moon slides back to it's depths, my soldier of the night breaths softly ever still
To feel his true nature, revitalized && cured
But wait, I feel a presence linger
My mistaken illusion sits mocking by the door...
