All That I Am

by Larry   Oct 22, 2005

I continue to sit and take up space,
For this I need neither style nor grace;
I need only to be myself,
To portray an unread book on a shelf.

I am a salmon which swims upstream,
I am a child who quietly dreams;
I am a criminal filled with rage,
I am the words you read on this page.

I am not one of a kind,
I am far from being a spectacular find;
Additionally, I need only to remain who I am --
A foolish architect without a plan.

I am a lion meant to rule and roam,
But I have no pride to call my own;
An infant stole Father Time's pride away,
I have not the strength to survive another day.
