A Fools Apology

by Jackie   Jan 23, 2006

In all the time that we have been friends
I never saw this as the way our friendship would end
I wont stop you from going although I'll miss you every day
But I understand your reasons for sending me away

I couldn't feel much worse than I do right now
People have come and gone in my life but I thought not you somehow
I know I'm not perfect but I never claimed to be
But with you I felt allowed to be the real me

I cherished your friendship, kept it close to my heart
Enjoyed every moment we were together right from the start
I've been a fool in my life in so many ways
But the loss of your friendship will stay with me always

Yes you were right about me, saw straight through my mask
And that getting to know me has in some ways has been a hard task
I'm at the stage in my life when I cannot explain
Let alone deal with all the confusion and pain

I'm on a voyage of discovery, to what I don't know
I learn more each day, but find my feeling hard show
But underneath the things you see, I am honest and true
And have felt nothing but respect and admiration for you

Honest is something I have always been where your concerned
You have taught me much, and I'll treasure all that I've learned
The trust that you gave me I know I destroyed with one blow
But know that your friendship was one I did not wish to let go

I have no one to blame except for me, myself and I
And I will grieve for my loss though you may never see me cry
I have no doubt I will think back to the first time we met
Yours is a friendship I cannot explain or forget

The words 'I am sorry' don't even do justice to how I feel
How can I make you believe I'm being real?
But even though it was my stupidity that tore our friendship apart
Please know this poem I've written comes straight from the heart
