Clouds

Clouds

Those rain clouds are following me.
Distracting my reality,
with their constant presence.
Laughing at my weakness.
Tracing after me wherever I go.
Waiting for my inevitable surrender.

My surrender to their darkness.
For when I finally escape this life.
Succumb to my temptation,
and rest in their promised eternity,
the serene, still silence,
of black death.

Death as final as forever,
as cruel as they predict.
I know I will endure,
eternal flames for my sin,
but still I long for,
that forbidden release from mortal toil.

And they toil with my mind,
Those disturbing rain clouds.
They make me so cold.
Break me down,
And it hurts, it hurts, it hurts.
So I cry, in self-pity.

You can pity my ambivalence.
My apathy is not your concern.
Pathetically broken hearted, yes.
But really.
I'm just waiting for the storm to start.
So I can give up, and be washed away.

Okay, so I'm an amatuer at 'dark poems', but ya gotta start somewhere, lol.

You did a superb job my friend with this write. The structure, diction and flow were flawless. Very dark and depressing. Keep up the good work.

    Best regards,

The structure of your poem, the wording, dark and amazing!! And you think you're an amateur at this. (lol!) You're a pro in my book.

Pure greatness. The way that you carried the main idea/keyword of the last sentence of the previous stanza into the first sentence of the next one is brilliant. It adds a unique flow that connects the entire poem to itself.

    Nice job!
