Alcohalic mom

by Tammy Sterr   Feb 9, 2006

Inside there is turmoil,
Outside it's the same.
Now there's just one question posed
what is there to gain?

You take one drink, the drink takes one, and then the drink takes you,
How would this make anything better?
but you don't know what else to do.

You say "I'll just have one more,
Then i swear I'm done."
At one time you had friends with you,
now you're the only one.

You have three children at your home,
Another on the way.
Yet you continue drinking 'cuz
it's your getaway.

You used to live it day by day,
Now it's drink by drink.
You need your alcohol like
a pen that needs its ink.

Your family tried helping you
but you have made it clear
the only thing that helps you now
is another sip of beer.

now if you could only see,
not behind a drunken veil
if you listen once to them
then you might prevail.

People don't want your pity stories
It's not only about you
Look around then you might find
there are better things to do.

Things that once made you happy
Didn't show what you lacked.
All I'm trying to say is that
I need my mother back.

**this poem is for my mom... she said she wanted me to write one about her... i don't think she likes it... but... what can i say...
the truth hurts sometimes...
