Movies and heros through the ages

Thomas Edison invented the kinescope and movies were born.
The silent movie heroes were loved and adorned.
Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford were bigger than life,
but then sound was added like a husband to a wife.
The early talkies were about adventure, westerns and a little sin,
we saw stars like John Wayne, Mae West and the dashing Errol Flynn.
The western became big with stars like Tom Mix, Randolph Scott and of course The Duke.
In the 40s and 50s the war pictures became large, as they were no fluke.
A real war hero, Audie Murphy, took us to Hell and Back,
then the Korean War movies showed how communist attack.
The 60s brought us more westerns but now new heroes did arise.
We saw actors like James Dean and other good looking wise guys.
Elvis starred and sung in movies like Clambake, Blue Hawaii and Speedway.
Sean Connery showed us in To Russia with Love how real men get layed.
By the 70s we had many heroes and various kind to pick from,
Shaft, Bond, Eastwood and Bruce Lee showed how it was done.
Cop movies began to emerge with Dirty Harry and Serpico.
Even the Duke played a policeman or two but finished with the Shootist, his death was a blow.
The 80s brought back a TV series called Star Trek,
Shatner and Nimoy thrilled trekies and got some well deserved respect.
Star Wars debuted with an unknown actor named Harrison Ford,
he would star in four Indiana Jones movies of his own accord.
James Bond movies would return but without Sean who was balding by then.
Roger Moore became James Bond and Shaken not stirred was his make of gin.
As the 90s arrived we would see retro heroes from the comic books.
Superman and Batman movies came alive and the children were hooked.
Glover and Gibson would continue with Lethal Weapon Four,
and from that movie a new Li would arise and martial arts movies did pour.
Jackie Chan and Jet Li would show their wit and their skills,
and many a poor bad guy would be flipped, chopped and killed.
The new millennium years were definitely movies of comic book heroes,
Spiderman, X Men, Daredevil all reduced their foes to zeroes.
Today at home we can rent, tape and copy the shows our heroes are in,
But in order to watch our heroes right, we go to see them on the big screen - our kinescope friend.
