Us Without We (a sonnet)

by Daenerys Stormborn   Jul 4, 2006

Words forgotten when you walked out the door
Memories and flashbacks packed away tight
All our future plans shattered on the floor
My broken heart in hand, shot down from flight

The past we shared was strong from hope
But when you left, everything I knew
Was cast overboard with no safety rope
A lingering drifter drowning for you

In my prayers, I ask that we meet again
Hoping that your old feelings have not changed
But my lack of faith prevails in the end
And my thoughts wander aimlessly; deranged

My meaning and purpose bewilders me
What is life without love? Us without we?
