Unfulfilled

by Marie   Jul 10, 2006

She goes on from day to day, her smile is said to light up the room,
Everyone thinks she leads a great life, but they just assume.

When she walks through the door, smiles and says hello,
Inside she is screaming, 'If only you could know.'

She is everything far from perfect, aside from what her parents say,
She doesnt want to disappoint them, but inside shes filled with dismay.

She tries to explain what her insides tell her,
But how can she explain what even to herself, is a blur.

Compared to others her life is fine, even great,
But inside her theres a hole, one shes learned to hate.

Shes tried to fill this hole to many times to follow,
And yet it still just sits there, still it remains hollow.

Shes filled it with men, with work, and with prayers,
But so far with all shes tried, she can only fill it with her tears.

As her search goes on she will still light up the room,
She will fake her way through life wearing her mask and costume.

To fill this hole is all that she asks for...
Shes afraid shell be trying to become whole forever more.
