I chose to leave this nightingale
as drop by drop, upon her eyes
there fell the memory of love,
in sleep, beneath the starry skies.

I love this stanza EOB and I can't help but read it over and over again.

    Wonderfully penned!
Thank-you for entering in the challenge, EOB.

So deep the hearts of nightingales.
For me, she would endure the light
while knowing it would taint her dreams
to see the world not draped in night.

But men have hearts of lesser strength
and will not sacrifice as much,
as nightingales would do for love,
and dare not loose themselves in such.

What a beautiful write. Especially loved these two stanzas.
You have a true talent for poetry and this one was your masterpiece. My new fave of yours.

Great work, I, too, stand in awe.

    Wow.. simply breathtaking...

"And here, where beauty seized me so,
and washed my strength away in tears,
I met my hope, the nightingale,
of whom I`d dreamt for many years."

Such strong and powerful emotions through out the entire poem!!.. so sad and full of sorrow, however an absolute joy to read.. brilliant job!!
