Padded Room [surrendering of sanity]

by Twisted Heart   Mar 17, 2007

I feel the silence
In the corner of my mind
It creeps.
Teasing me with hunger pains
As darkness falls

I see the tufted walls
But for a button on a panel
That flashes
And an obscure door in the corner
They are empty.

I hear the shutter
As eyes watch from a corner
Of the ceiling
Waiting patiently for my next breath
To be inhaled.

I slip onto the floor
Leaning tired bones against the wall
Ever waiting
For the voice of demons to take control
And give me strength.

Still they wait
On the edge of seats for a word
Forever watching
As I dip into the dampness of insanity
And let it find release.

A scream tears
Inside the darkness of the night
Twisting me
Cloaking me in the depths of madness
My constant refuge.

No longer do I see
The vacant walls surrounding me
Nor hear the shutter
Of vacant eyes watching my inhaled breath
I am numb....

Arms wrap me
Demons carry me to sanctuary
Silence is my conqueror
And darkness calls to claim my tired eyes
Now lost forever.

Amazing imagery - the entire room came to life. My favorite stanza was:

    I slip onto the floor
Leaning tired bones against the wall
    Ever waiting
For the voice of demons to take control
    And give me strength.

knowing whats coming but unable to stop it...almost welcoming it...I felt it...wow 5/5

Although i found your writing interesting, it appears to me that either you have never been on the inside of a padded 'cell' NOT 'room'. if indead you have then your time was not only limited, but obviously rather tame. try dealing with the reality of the pain and anguish that situations such as these cause and stop looking for some kind of redemption.
