In the spell of a slumber deep....

by Shawn Robertson   Jun 22, 2007

In the spell of a slumber deep,
visions of thee ferried me,
to a place where worries sleep,
and my love in thee buries me.

Woe to me--my soul has lapsed,
as thy smile ever fair,
shines neath the waxing moons glare;
o, this moment my soul is wed!

Do you hear my beating heart?
O, its rhythm beats for thee!
And to thee I wish to be,
thy morning's light and northern star!

Thy stand among the willow trees,
where I tell my love to thee,
and my cheek a kiss you lay.
O, thy fragrance faint of flower!

Then how the darkness did arise,
as this sweetest dream of thee,
wrought lies only desired,
and this fond love I deemed in me,

now but lost in a tragedy!
I crawl and claw for thy love,
as the world nears close to me;
thy fade, thy die--my heart declines!
