Admittedly I didn't identify Emily nor Maggie Leader, though I figured that Emily was someone I just wasn't identifying, and suspected that Maggie Leader might be a convenient pseudonym for a Suffrage leader.

In some respects, your explanation supports my interpretation. But that I didn't identify Emily nor Maggie Leader prior to your explanation shouldn't mean you NEEDED the explanation. Instead it might have given me an interesting puzzle to ponder or even investigate at my leisure.

Doesn't alter your poem from being interesting and poignant, though.
