Parallel Preparations

by Andrew Packard   Apr 23, 2013

Registered runners stuff their duffel bags
under pressure - zipping up their belongings.
Future fugitives soon on the run stuff their
pressure cookers - sealing up their bombings.

Athletes contemplate and focus
on what will transpire in anticipation.
Anarchists desecrate and take aim
on what will blow up in fire of Revolution.

At the starting line on their mark 2013
location the most famous Boston Marathon.
Across the street with no Heart, an
infamous address, the fueling station Marathon.

Participants bend and arch their back
the population gathers for mass celebration.
Deviants send a spark no turning back
loners and losers plot mass destruction.

Runners look up
as the starting gun goes off,
Terrorists look down
as the ending bomb goes off ....

This was very much a deserved win Andrew, you took the club challenge and made a very poignant piece...it had a meaning and had a reason to it.
