Missed my last chance to say goodbye
the bird spreads its wings and begins to fly
the words i didn't say cause regret
even though all the pieces were set
had her in front of me for a time
but never pushed myself across the line
couldn't say the words i had in my mind
my jaw closed shut and my eyes when blind
all i could do is watch her standing there
couldn't think of a thing all i did was stare
her smile instantly turned my mind to mush
didn't say to her that she was my crush
we parted ways and never said a word
that day is so clear it never blurred
words on paper revealed what i couldn't say
but i wonder if she remembers too this day
