Love at Its End...

by RB   Feb 11, 2008

I've truly found so much in you,
So where's it gone to waste?
The heart that once beat fast for you,
Oh has it been replaced?

Your words they were so meaningful,
Still I must say they are.
So why did I once live for them,
Now to only listen from afar?

When did these feelings disappear?
It was a love [one day] immense.
Basked in the glowing sunlight,
Of your breathtaking presence.

I've taken you for granted,
Yet I cannot change my ways.
Our love once full of color,
Now filled with dulling haze.

No need for me to fake a smile,
I do not wish to condescend.
No need to tightly grip your hand,
Our love is at its end...

A heart which I did not deserve,
Placed in my hands for free.
You said you'd wait forever,
Why have such faith in me?

Once again I am a fool,
For the bond we shared was real.
I wish I weren't so stubborn,
Always fighting what I feel.

I'd truly found so much in you,
So where did it go to waste?
The heart that once beat fast for you,
It must have been replaced.

Very good poem! I like the lines about always fighting what you feel. So true...and so easy to relate to. Good job!
