The Queen Is Praying

by Vesper   Feb 24, 2008

Across rivers and moors
Over mounts and vales
A castle stands proud
A building of tales...

With black stone on the walls
And towers piercing the sky
A platinum dragon on top
With wings spread to fly...

The land is Drakonia
Ruled by a glorious queen
With her loyal guard
The Dragon's Thirteen...

Drakkar their leader
A black dragon's heir
With eyes blue as the sky
And charred black hair...

They would serve their queen
Mighty and proud
Through life and death
Thus have they vowed...

When the castle is in danger
And the air battle brings
The Queen sheds a tear
And a prayer she sings...

The knights kneel down
Among clatter and blood
And sing with their queen
And the eyes with tears flood...

She sings of the land
She sings of the seas
She sings of life
And how death she sees...

The Queen is praying
The knights stand up
The Dragon's Thirteen
Would never give up...

Twice as strong
They strike down their foe
They slaughter and kill
While the tears continue to flow...

* * *

Drakkar kneels to his Queen
The battle is won
He has many wounds on his chest
But he only feels one...

The Queen lays a hand
On the warrior's chest
She kisses his lips
And his heart puts to rest...

Whoever threatens her
Shall see only death
He will fight for his Queen
Until his last breath...

Wow. Absolutely incredible. It would make a great story, if you ever think of writing one. The imagery is fantastic, and the word choice just WORKS!!
    Great job, really.
