How We Met

by Aage Crow   Mar 8, 2008

He hit me, hurt me, and attempted to rape me
And in my screams I could finally see
When people fell deaf you were there
Taking my hand and showing you care
But it wasn't right for either of us
For we had others and hide we must
Because we couldn't bare to hurt her or him
Though our feelings could only grow and stem
She used up your money and left you alone
And more abusive to me he had grown
He was your friend though and you couldn't step in
I was faithful still despite his heart being thin
He cheated on me and broke my arm
Finally you held me and promised safety from harm
Anger flared in usually soft eye
And all I could do was simply cry
The whole thing was all my fault
Still you stood by me and told him to back off
When he reached out to throw his fist
I closed my eyes and hoped he missed
But you had swung faster and saved my life
I had fallen so deeply in love for the first time
Your words hadn't been a hallow when you dried my tears
And told me that you'd take away all my fears
Never had you gave me false comfort or joy
You never even played with my emotions like a toy
Now its three years later and we're closer than ever
Like the story ends we'll live happily ever after
