Straight to the top

by Morgan   Mar 14, 2008

I fell in a canyon
At the edge of a cliff

When I hit the ground
I ended up stiff

It took me an hour
To begin to get up

But a stranger walked by
To water my cup

My thirst quenched,
I started to put on my gear

And walked to the bottom
Of the cliff that I fear

I started out slow
But continued to climb

Losing my grip
A couple of times

I re-chalked my hands
To reduce the sweat

And rechecked the carabineer
In order to get

Past the overhang
To a clear view

Straight to the top
Where I could see you

Somehow or another we often lose sight of what we have in mind, this poem reflects upon the struggles that life can bring our way and that it is always a joy to reclaim the sights we have set. Beautiful imagery.

Look forward to reading more from you.
