You Were There.

by Vonnie McHugh   Mar 15, 2008

The last few years that have went by,
I sometimes needed a shoulder on which to cry,
You have been there in all my pain,
You always helped pick me up again.

I don't think I can ever repay,
So in these few words I want to say,
When my days were dark you were there,
In my joy and tears you did share.

If anyway I could repay you I would,
But I know in my heart I never could,
I don't think you know what your friendships is to me,
Without you I would never been able to see.

That life goes on and on every day,
Although some days I would rather have been faraway,
You stood right there by my side and helped me see,
I can honestly say without you there would have been no me.
