The Old Fashioned New Girl

by Aage Crow   Mar 19, 2008

Look into the stars and describe them as my eyes
Picture the old time mother tending to children and making pies
See the old fashioned girl who just loves drive in movie theater dates
The silly little girl that believes in soul mates
Maybe simple girls are just so out of the times
But its not for sympathy that this old souled girl writes rhymes
I'm just the type of chick who loves vintage clothes
That type of woman who doesn't like to paint her toes
The girl who runs through the grass with bare feet
A woman who doesn't like to drop down on her knees
Thing of a girl who has dignity but no grace
And against the wind on the ocean line I'll race
Take a long look at old fifties pictures from news paper clippings
Maybe when you see me next you'll see thats the style I'm fitting
Recognize the girl who smiles with meaning
And realize its women like this that always take the beating
They get used up and left for dead
All because they still held on to fated romance
And even after all they suffer they still bare the pain
Girls like me stay faithful even if there's nothing to gain
Because we love with our hearts instead of our lust
We are the "dumb broads" that believe still in trust
Maybe we'll never live out our simple lives
Perhaps girls like us will never find the right guys
But sometimes we can't help but keep the dream
That one day by a moon lit stream
We'll be asked to dance from night to day
And that the knight in shining armor will carry us away
An old fashioned girl I might be
But when you open those eyes and you see me
I hope you realize that I am real
My heart is open and all yours to steal
