Today I Defy YOu MAMA

by Poison Ivy   Mar 25, 2008

Set me free,
Set me free,
Military,

Yelling in my ear,
Will not be a rude awakening for me,
For it brings back all I've ever heard growing up from mama,

Today I defy you mama,
Today I stand against what you believe,
Today I look up into your eyes,
Something you never allowed us to do,

What you condemned so much,
I will be apart of,
You will have to love,
What you hate so much,

I will be one of them,
Could you come to hate me?
Could you come to curse my name?
Could you come to curse those that stand in war?
Beside me, defending my life, defending your freedom?

Could you spit at the ones who risk there life?
Could you spit at the ones who stay awake for long hours
Not knowing if they will live or die?
Could you spit on the name of the child that you carried within?,
Could you turn your back on the people who have taken me in?,

They have given me a home,
They have given me hope,
They have striped me away from my fears,

They have silenced my screams,
They have allowed me to stand beside them,
They have made me their family,

I stand with the best,
I am apart of The United States Marines.
