Love

"Love"
My crushed heart
Red pools of my crimson blood
The constant dripping of my crying soul
My eyes, slowly closing
With the intent to never open again
The silence of the room
Is like millions of pins hitting the floor
This pain will never stop
It is always vigorously alive

But I feel this soft warm touch
To the middle of my forehead
My tear-swollen eyes open
And I see his eyes
Piercing their way into mine

I, suddenly, as if startled
Realize he was holding me in his arms
Tight, snuggly pressing against me
He whispers into my ear
Do these words really exist?
He kisses my tears away
This unfamiliar thing is overwhelming my face.
My lips forming a smile
He cares for me
My world has suddenly changed
What is the word for this feeling I ask him
He looks to his feet
Then back to my eyes
And he simply replies
"Love"
