The Plight of the Lost

by Dan   Apr 3, 2008

I heard of times long past and gone
When the wind whispered a silent song
And the beauty of the land and I were one

The terror of the times was dark
But then the holy light shone through
And in the void there stood but only you...

And alone the kings they waged their war
And beauty left the land, so ever more
But there still stood you and I...

The blood was strewn across the realm
No longer stood the Oak or Elm
And from the earth the life away

Love is cold and love is hard
Like daggers and a broken shard
The terror and the beauty, all but stolen

Remember when the land was gone
The time no sun or light had shone
But there was still you and me and the moonlight...

All I ever learned from life
Was pain and sorrow by the knife
But you dont really care about me do you?

The darkness closed, no wind was heard
No cry of love, no song of bird
Into the abyss slid the love and beauty...

Now all we hear is the song and tale
Of times of kings and kingdoms frail
But the sands of time hold you no fear, do they?

And the wind whispered into my ear
The pain, the sorrow, the closing fear
But the darkness is my comfort now I've lost you...

All I want is love not hurt
The tenderness not shadows that lurk
But I was in pain before I knew you...

When all the land was in despair
You held me close, a love to share
But you just went and left me in the shadow...

Why cant we have what once we lost?
Why must life come at a cost?
All you need to know is that I love you...

Ok I first submitted this poem into sad poems, but I decided it didnt really fit there, as this is sort of sad love aswell as a tale of destruction. I might write a tune to this, but it will end up something like "Hallelujah". Infact if you read the poem like that song it sounds pretty good I think. Anyway Enjoy.
