Fading to Gray

by Molly May   Apr 4, 2008

The air is still
Unchanging
Suffocating

Doors locked
Windows barred
Leaving you alone with your
Thoughts

Pondering the past
Fretting the future
All fun and games until you
Reach the end

You've run out of pages
The story has stopped

Your brain begins to break
Snapping
Cracking
One cherished memory at a time

With love shut out
Loneliness fills this
Abyss

Day after day you
Slip away
Slowly but surely
Fading to gray

Stop covering your eyes
Open them and see
What are you hiding from?
The only thing to fear is
What you've become
What you're about to be

You slipped and
Fell
Drained of your desires
Becoming an
Empty shell

You crazy fool
Wipe your mouth
Your lips have spread and you're beginning to
Drool

Dead Head
Hardly fed
Forgetting to take your
Happy meds

Look around
Guzzle it down
The love that's pouring
Freeing you
No longer bound

Sure you're screwed
But we all are too
We drown together
Drinking as we go

We drink to die
We drink tonight
Chugging our lies
One pint at a time

So I ramble on
Pen in hand about
Random things I doubt you'll
Understand

Cinderella locked in a
Cellar
Waiting for Charming to
Come and tell her

"Baby girl
Only you I'll twirl
I thought I was lost
My heart I almost tossed
But that was when I saw the
Smile in your soul and
I knew right then that I was
Finally Whole"
