I'll Be There For You

by Courtney Lynn   Apr 13, 2008

Listen to me, please before you go running into this world.
I want you to take these words and store them in your soul,
Don't lose these words, for they are my heart.
And I know how you like to let my words slip away.
I don't know where you're going to end up in this life,
But I hope it's someplace wonderful, and all that I know you deserve.
I can't control you, your actions are your own. I trust you, but you scare me.
I want to know that you're safe, healthy and stable. That's what you need.
I'll be here for you always, to fall back on, to cry to, to help you.
I told you that in the beginning, and despite the end, it still holds true.
If life fails you, and you have no place to run,
Run to me.
I'll meet you half way, with arms wide open.
I will never judge you, nor will I feel a hatred.
This may sound like a pity plead,
But it's my truth.
To you I have always been,
I always will be, loyal.
A hundred years, a thousand tears, and some millions of miles
Will never change that.
I want you to succeed.
And I don't want to do anything to hold you back,
Because I've learned better,
Because you taught me the hard way.
And now I've got to let you go,
Though I will never forget you.
I know I'd be happier knowing that you're somewhere out there living your own life
being all I knew you could be,
Rather than having you around here and us both being miserable.
You don't have to have a single feeling towards me,
These words will always hold true.
Forever and for always,
I will look out, look after, pray
I will be there for you.
