Goodbye Sailor

The overbearing ship frowns upon the crowd ashore
Bold and blue U.S. Navy written on the side hovering as a storm

Sadly hollered goodbyes rippling like rocks hitting the lake surface
Thunderous blow of the horn warning our time is up

Blue, cold ocean water awaiting our sailor’s arrival
Harsh, bubbling sorrow in the air swelling like a balloon

Sweet, tender last kiss dancing on the lips
Tear-ridden cheeks, like a cliff under the waterfall

The emptiness of his leaving takes over
