No Expectations

by Poet   Apr 15, 2008

We try not to expect much
From one another
We know that expecting causes a world of trouble
I don't expect you to get back with me
That's simply a wish, a dream
You don't automatically expect me to forgive you
But because I care so much, I do
I don't expect you to get over her so fast
Or for you to tell me you wished you and I had a better past
You don't expect me to care
But You know that no matter what, I'll always be there
I don't expect you to return my calls
But last night surprisingly you did
I don't expect you to pick me up when I fall
But you can't stand to see a girl cry
I don't expect you to give me a heartfelt goodbye
But who knows, you just might
We have no high expectations of one another
We have no low
All we hope for
Is that we deal with our problems, that we end up happy
We hope our lives will stop being crappy
We dream of a better tomorrow
We wish for a brighter yesterday
We pray to get over everything we have gone through
We dream that one day someone will say "I love you"
We hope that we can be friends forever
We dream of a better friendship together
Those are our only expectations
