It Is What It Is

Okay so maybe I'm not exactly Buddha or some really wise man but there is something I do know about, friends. Friends stick till the end and with real friends nothings hidden, it is what it is. I can't tell you exactly what a true friend is but I can tell you what it isn't. Friends don't talk crap behind your back without at least telling you one day. Don't mix it up with friends who speak the truth but tell you because they want you to change something, that's fine. Real friends don't go behind your back, they don't whisper secrets behind your ears. With all that "He said, she said" crap. Would a friend do that to you? Honestly? Would a real friend talk shit about your life behind your back? Would a real friend call you stupid when you finally found something that makes you happy in your life? A real friend wouldn't take sides without at least logically understanding both points of views, both sides of a situation. But what? Is this all a surprise to you? Am I mistaken? Is what I expect of a friend too much? Honesty, loyalty, respect. Is that so hard? They don't even have to be there for you all the time, but just knowing that they do try and that they do have my back is enough for me. None of that "if you were friend you would do this for me" stuff. Real friends don't put you the spot, real friends don't single you out and make you feel isolated. Real friends don't take advantage of you just cause your too nice or too generous. Real friends don't treat you like you're less than them, like what you have to say is meaningless. A real friend always listens to what you have to say. And alright! You'll always get into arguments even with your friends but so what?, it's how they handle the situation and how they show themselves in those hard times that makes all the difference. Don't judge a relationship on the happy times, it's the hardships that truly shows someone's character. It shows someone's credibility and ability to stand up for themselves and not just throw away their dignity just to get what they want. Honesty, loyalty, respect : do your friends have it?
