The Boy behind the words

by Lyssa   May 18, 2008

A boy once told me he would give me anything I wanted.
I replied, "Give me a heart that can never be broken."
Then not a word was spoken.
The boy just looked at me, with a confused yet gentle look in his eye.
Eventually he said, But why?"
And I replied, "It hurts, my heart has shattered, and nothing else matters."
The boy, he spoke again, "You say this as its a bad thing, but it is not completely so, if your heart could not be broken, then love would not show. It is the pain and the fear that makes love oh so dear. Without one, you get none. As to love someone, to truly love another, you have to conquer that pain, that fear, to get to a perfect love, that is true, that is dear. I know you are hurting but love is all about learning!"

Right then and there, My heart stopped aching,
The pain I once felt,
Was gone in an instant,
It all was dealt.
The knowledge of love,
Made it all right.
The boy behind the words.
had mended my heart this night.
