Our Night Winds Down

by John   May 30, 2004

Birds begin singing as our night winds down,
Celebrating the start of a brand new day.
I hold her close and kiss her hair,
In celebration of this night together,
But wishing there was more time
In the day that had just been.

Alone now, radio on, playing to ears lost
In the memory of her voice and the evening's laughter.
The sun rises,
But remains invisible to my eyes
That are keeping alive the image
Of her beauty and her smile.

My lips, still carrying her sweet kiss,
Stretch into the banner of a broad smile,
Nourished by joy and wonderment:
That this beautiful girl,
Whom I love more than she possibly imagines,
Loves me so much in return.

Sue, each night is better than the last. I love you always.
