The Call of the Siren

by The Apathetic Emo   Jun 28, 2008

A distant call
The strangest urge
That fills my ears
And directs my course

Forget my mission
Ignore the maps
There's something out there
And it's beckoning me

And yet a little voice
In the back of my mind
Tells me not to listen
Begs me to turn back

But the closer I get
The louder the sound
And the harder it gets
To ignore their song

Beautiful creatures
Dancing for me
Controlling my mind
Moving my feet

Onward I go
Against my nonexistent will
Into the hands of goddesses
And their mouths as well

And so my tale ends
As my flesh is devoured
But let my warning live on
To all who will hear me

Listen not to what's loudest
Nor look at surface-beauty alone
But follow that voice in your soul
For it is what will lead you safely home
