I think the this write was very personal, i think that maybe God might have used your situation with this guy to bring you closer to Him instead of the other way around.... but it's always positive to acknowledge the fact that that person has made a change in your life some way.. because he is as loved by Christ as you are.

also it doesnt hurt to put your poem into regular poetry format... i think this one would look good like that.. it's on the verge of being free style, but it still has alot of structure that could be put into stanzas
