She

by Sherika   Jul 18, 2008

Chills and shivers fill an existence that she is to play

host to.

Fear and terror run rampant, fueling her anxieties about

being alone.

Once a poster child for independence, is now nothing

more than a old woman depending upon a man to take

care of her.

If there was pride, it has long since vanished.

I think it left with her beauty.

I think it left with her figure.

I think it left with her youth.

I think it left with her confidence.

In the arms of a younger man, nearly 20 years her Jr.

Mistakenly confusing lust for love because her heart

hadn't felt either in years.

Oh to be in his arms, makes everything seem OK,

but the reality is, he soothes her flesh,

and her true essence still remains untouched.

If she were an addict, this young man would definitely

be her drug of choice.

Solely dependent upon him to keep her high enough,

so that she doesn't have to deal with the topic of the

day.

Kids, Family, Life, is sometimes more than one

person can bare.

If she could just close her eyes and sleep for a while,

if she could just close her eyes and find that place in

time, the time before her children's father, the time

before her 1st child.

Hoping that one day she will be looked at and truly

loved by another.

But, she is a realist and knows that love exist for some

and is merely a dream for others.

So she will fight the good fight, and she will travel the

roads set before her to continue her life's journey.

Knowing the only solace she will find is when

she can once again lay her head down, shutting her

eyes to find the peace that she needs.

Hoping tonight is a good night and that the love she

desires most, may appear, and be with her in her

dreams.

I may be way off base with this, but here goes. I think I can understand the feelings described. The words are simple yet meaningful. Seems she wants nothing more than to be free, if even for a few moments, from the issues of the day. To make it better yet, would be to find someone to care and share things with her. A lot of feelings in those simple lines, yet holds out some hope for a future...
