Fly

by Fallen Angel   Aug 6, 2008

I stood on the balcony, watching the world rush through the day.

I watched the children swim and the parents dance to a lively beat.

I watched the planes take-off and land.

But all of a sudden it got quiet.

It was like the whole world stopped and looked up at the sky to see it's beauty.

I looked at the clouds, and they had stopped too.

Time had been frozen.

I gazed upon the mountains and wished.

I wished for wings, so that I may fly.

I would fly right over the busy towns and the mountains tops.

I would soar over the rivers and the lakes.

Over the traffic, and over the cars.

Past the roads and the people.

I'd leave it all behind.

I'd fly, not to my home, but to where I truly belong; in your arms.

I'd fly to you in a heartbeat, but I have no wings, only hope.

Hope that one day I will see you again.

Hope the we will be together soon.

Faith that you would take me in, hold me for hours, and love me like I never left.

You'd kiss me and all my problems would melt away, and everything would be okay.

As long as we're together, everything would be okay.

But we are not together, and I cannot see your face.

I can't hold you in my arms and embrace you with my very soul.

And at that moment, I realized, "I am alone."

Millions of people surround me, but I am alone.

I am lost in the darkness without you.

Your brilliance lights my way out of the night and into happiness.

This lonely feeling descends upon me and engulfs my spirit, suffocating me.

All I have of you is a picture and a memory.

This noise came back to my ears, and filled my head.

I stood on the balcony, watching the world rush through the day, and I thought to myself, "If only wishes came true."
