Our embrace

by jasmine   Aug 11, 2008

I reach for the sun
only to find it's scorching intensity
too scalding
to look at, let alone touch
so i settle for the moon
yet it's cool gaze rejects me
sending me cascading down
to nestle among the stars
where the sharp edges perforate my flesh
i cry out and plummet Even further
down
i am caught in a free fall
the ground rushed up to meet me
i close my eyes, and clench my fist
anticipating the hard gravel
but instead
i fall into your waiting arms
familiar like home
comfort like home
love like you
i open my eyes
to find yours smiling into mine
you caress my cheek
welcome home you say
i smile and nestle even deeper
into the embrace that's only ours to share
