Daddy

Running in the dark,
Lost trying to find where you are,
Calling your name
Dad, Dad, Dad, Where are you
Time and time again I hear no reply
I continued my search to try and find you

All of a sudden I freeze
And see a faint light that gets brighter and brighter as I stare
All of a sudden everything turns black
I wonder what happened and,
I fall

I land in this place I have seen before
Its like a movie but im actually here seeing this again
I lying in my bed you are tucking me in saying good night ill see you in the morning
I fall asleep with ease knowing you will be here tomorrow

I wake the next morning ready to see your face looking at me to say hello
But wait your not here
I begin to worry where is my daddy
I run through the house trying to find you
Yelling Dad, Dad, Dad where are you

I trip and start to get up with no one there to help me
I sit there and start to cry wondering where you are
Mom comes down the hallway asking what is wrong
I reply wheres daddy where did he go
She tells me hell be back soon

To the 6 year old that I was soon means like an hour or two
But you did not come back in two hours you called me on the phone
Saying your sorry that you had to leave and go out of town for work
the thing is you lied to me Dad you lied
You said you would be here in the morning

2 weeks go by and your still not home
I start to think you left and youre never coming back
3 weeks pass and you finally come home
But you notice I dont know who you are
I know youre my daddy but now you are known as my daddy that left

Years go by and I still havent forgave you for leaving that day you left
You continue to leave for weeks but you always come back
Which makes me feel a whole lot better
Its just dad I was only 6 you cant just say youll be here tomorrow and not
Now I am older, and
I understand now

You did it for the best
You did it because you loved me and now I know that
Well I love you too dad so dont forget that
The next time you leave ill know why it is
Its to show how much I mean to you

So when you come back dad you dont have to worry
I know why you left now so dont say sorry
Ill just be happy to see you again
No matter how far we are apart
You are always here in my heart
